The Idiotbox Effects Blower Box Bass Distortion is a high-gain bass overdrive and distortion pedal originally developed to capture the distinctive bass tone of Voivod's Blacky on Nothingface. What started as a pedal designed around a specific sound evolved into a versatile distortion circuit capable of everything from aggressive overdrive to heavily saturated, almost fuzz-like tones. The Blower Box is designed to work across a wide range of rigs, from small practice amplifiers to high-powered bass setups, while providing a powerful and highly responsive distorted voice.
The Blower Box features four straightforward controls: Volume, Distortion, High, and Low. The Low control can add substantial low-frequency weight, while the High control adds attack and definition, allowing you to shape the distortion to suit your rig. The current version uses a compact 125B enclosure, with true-bypass switching and support for 9–18V DC operation. Although voiced with bass in mind, the circuit can also be used with guitar and synthesizers.
