The IdiotBox Effects Black Fortress Bass Distortion started with the idea of an HM-2-style bass distortion, but it has grown into something considerably more versatile. This is a huge, aggressive distortion and fuzz pedal built for maximum beef, grind, and sustain, with enough control to shape the sound rather than simply turning everything into a wall of distortion.
The main distortion section gives you Drive and Master, along with Low, Mid, and High controls based around the classic HM-2-style EQ section. There's also a parallel analog octave fuzz that can be blended into the sound, giving you everything from a little extra thickness to completely nasty octave-heavy tones. The DIR and PASS controls add a parallel clean signal with its own low-pass filtering, which is especially useful on bass for keeping the fundamental present underneath all that distortion and fuzz.
