Rather than functioning like a conventional bass EQ, it blends low-frequency content from the original instrument signal with the distorted signal. The compressor side uses a dynamic optical circuit with adjustable Ratio, Threshold, Attack, and Volume. The internal buffer also helps with impedance matching when the Heartbreaker is used alongside other pedals or an amplifier.
